Good day everyone and thank you for coming back. It is hard to write about someone dying and still go on. For my husband this was even harder now that both his parents were dead. I had to be strong for him and help hold him up. Jimmy has so many regrets. Little things, like for instance. Before the 911 incident, anyone could go and wait at the gate of an airport. Whenever his mom or dad came to visit he would drop them off outside, help get their luggage out of the car, kiss goodbye and leave. Now he regrets he didn’t wait by the gate with them, just to talk for maybe another hour before they took off. He has regrets that he didn’t have much patience with his Dad while in his Alzheimer’s. He still carries the burden of how he cheated on me, and to this day asks me why I am still married to him. If I have learned
anything in life, I have learned to love, forgive and go on.
I bet you are wondering what this has to do with romance. It seems to me that romance is more than a short lived fascination. It is an emotional attachment that two people get involved into. It is the environment as to where you live and what you share. The butterflies don’t stay as long as you wish they would. Life gets in the way, and sometimes your job, kids or like my father in law has to come first. Hopefully you built a foundation of love to which when you are put on the shelf for a period of time, you will still love from a far and be patient until you can enjoy the company of your loved one again.
Romance is taking the good with the bad. Accepting that your partner has faults but also accepting that you also have faults. Always keeping the hope and faith that you will have that time to reunite the sparks, and enjoy each other with the knowledge that life can get in the way again.
We needed a break after my father in law died. We needed to be a family again. We had just gone through a lot of responsibility and pain. Now we wanted to just relax and enjoy each other.
We planned a trip to Rocky Point, Mexico. We found out it was just a few hours’ drive from the house. So I checked on line and made reservations at a hotel. Soon Jimmy, Jessica, Regina, Adias and I were in the car for a little road trip. We went to a hotel called Plaza Las Glorious. It was a pretty hotel with a nice pool and across from that was the Pacific Ocean. First thing I did was plan for the five of us to go Para sailing. This time it was on a boat where they wheeled you up with a crank and then let the wind take you for the ride while the boat moved. My children were not real receptive about my idea at first, but it was great to see my kids laugh and have a good time. To shop in Rocky Point was an adventure in itself. The sidewalks were full of colors from all the material of clothing waving from the wind and the pottery. So many stores selling so much stuff and you can bargain with them. The kids had fun swimming in the ocean, and playing in the sand. Jimmy and I also went Deep Sea Fishing, something he wished he would have done with his dad.
It seemed like we had to learn to be a family all over again without any in laws. Jimmy was going through a depression of not being able to talk to his mom or dad any more. It is kind of funny how we take each other for granted until the day comes when they expire and there is no more chance to see them again. All of a sudden we want to see them all the time. I found myself doing my laps in the pool talking to my father in law. Just telling him what was going on and that we missed him.
I remember when it was so hard going through empty nest syndrome. I am not sure though if it was worse when my father in law died and I didn’t have him to take care of anymore. It was good to have Adias around, like I had a nest again. Erik was graduating with his Associates Degree and Jessica was planning on going to acting school in California. Thank heavens for the kids to keep me busy again.
Well enough for today. This isn’t one thousand words but I am reading the third book to the Hunger Games and want to finish it. I am also trying to get my two books into paperback which seems to be a chore in itself. If you know anyone who likes to read romance books have them check out my books. It would be great to see them get on the top one hundred lists. That way all of Amazon would see them. Tell your friends to check them out and to tell their friends. Thanks for all you do and have a great day.
